Fiberglass Concept

Fiberglass is a kind of inorganic non-metallic material with excellent performance. It has a wide variety. Its advantages are good insulation, strong heat resistance, good corrosion resistance and high mechanical strength, but its disadvantages are brittle and poor wear resistance. It is made from pyrophyllite, quartz sand, limestone, dolomite, bocalcite and brucite through high-temperature melting, drawing, winding, weaving and other processes. The diameter of its monofilament is several microns to 20 microns, equivalent to 1/20-1 /5 of a hair filament. Each bundle of fiber precursor is composed of hundreds or even thousands of monofilaments. Glass fiber is usually used as reinforcing material in composites, electrical insulation material, thermal insulation material, circuit board and other fields of national economy.

Production mode:

There are two kinds of glass fiber production processes: twice forming - crucible wire drawing method and once forming - tank furnace wire drawing method.

1. the process of crucible drawing is various. Firstly, the glass raw materials are melted into glass balls at high temperature, and then the glass balls are melted twice, and then the glass fiber precursor is made by high-speed drawing. This process has many disadvantages, such as high energy consumption, unstable forming process, low labor productivity, and is basically eliminated by large glass fiber manufacturers.

2. pyrophyllite and other raw materials are melted into glass solution in the furnace by tank furnace wire drawing method. After removing bubbles, they are transported to the porous leakage plate through the channel and drawn into glass fiber precursor at high speed. The kiln can connect hundreds of leakage plates through multiple channels for simultaneous production. This process has the advantages of simple process, energy saving and consumption reduction, stable molding, high efficiency and high yield. It is convenient for large-scale automatic production and has become the international mainstream production process. The glass fiber produced by this process accounts for more than 90% of the global output.
